Confessions of a Craft Hoarder!

What is a Creative Roll for you and how do you handle it? For me a Creative Roll means I can't sleep, eat, think, or do anything without thinking about the next fabulous idea waiting to explode from my brain. Which is probably why I have so much stuff...in so little room LOL. Over the years I've tapped into every area of mixed media Art I could fit myself into, every craft I fancied and every Artistic indulgence my wallet and senses allowed, save for those that 'friends that love me' intervened on. And Intervention is something most Artists understand. When I moved a few months ago I found approximately 30 something bottles and tubes of adhesives, glues. Some only partially used, others not even opened.
See those paper racks? That was in my living room!

Now for me, Creative Roll and Craft Hoarding sort of went hand in hand! Now that I've moved most of my stash is in the garage. And... that is good and bad. Good because now the garage is hoarding, not me! And bad because I have to stop and think LOL and then do the right thing! No more running to the store for replacements all willy nilly! Now instead of 8 cans of spray adhesive I have 3. And instead of 10 supersized boxes of photo paper I have 3. And...well you get the message.

Recently I've begun sewing again. Oh goodness me! That's a whole new kind of hoarding. There's fabric and ribbons and attachments and well.... what's a girl to do! I might need therapeutic craft organization help!

On a good note, I've created some fab bags and other than fabric any and everything I could need is...well, right under my nose.

Are you a Craft Hoarder? Why types of things do you collect most? How do you try to organize? Any tips and notes would more than loved by us!!!

Ok so I'm off to create some more after I rearrange my room from last nights projects LOL. Have a fab day and Do It In Color!!!

Happy Healing Artsy Day!

Happy Healing Artsy Delicious Fun Colorful Saturday! It is a happy one right? After all, we woke up and have the power to create the type of day we want! That's good stuff. One of the things I love about Art so much is what it entails. Not just color and pictures or stuff on paper. Not just painting and stitching, hammering and molding. But the stuff we tend to forget. Like the people we cross paths with because of Art. The emotions we feel and the way we look at them because of the creative energy our Art produces.

Healing through Art is so possible!
Making it work for you is all it requires.

This is a little Healing Art project I do when it's absolutely necessary for me to use my hands and relax my mind at the same time. All you need for this project is a print out of your favorite pic (I used regular inkjet paper), some Gloss Gel or Matte Gel or Embossing Paste and a bowl of water. Oh and a few minutes for yourself.

Instructions
Completely cover your picture by brushing on a good layer of Gel (I used Golden Regular Gloss (not too thick but enough to cover picture evenly or close to evenly -mine are never even LOL) You can experiment with pieces to see which way you like it best.

Let it dry. Drying make take a few minutes or hours depending on how thick you make your layers. Sometimes its best to do thin layers and let them dry and add additional layers the same way.

This pic shows 2 dried pieces
The first one only has one good layer on it. It's transparent as you can see by the lotto ticket I put behind it. (no it wasn't the winning one LOL)

The second one has a thicker coat on it. So you can't see the ticket behind it.

let your pieces soak in water try at least a half hour first... start slightly rubbing off wet paper. Be delicate so you don't tear your piece. Rub the entire back or only in spots. You decide. Once you are done you can add your work to other pieces or keep as is.

It's a lot of fun but it's also a healing way to relax and let creative energy get stirred up.

Whatever you do today, have a fabulously colorful day!
Steph :-)

And the World Keeps Turning

Wooo Hooo! Internally I'm jumping up and down. Some from nervousness some from anticipation. Nervous in a good but kooky way about decisions I've made about 2011 and how I will get there. Anticipation because I know I'll get there.

I've got so much Art and Creativity built up in me that I'm hopping around like a small child at an Ice Cream truck. I want to do it all LOL and sometimes make every attempt to do just that. Learning to separate and slow down is one of those lessons that just never seems to catch up with me. Or it catches up and then pauses LOL.

I've done a couple of painting and collages since I last posted.

This collage has a ton of stuff on it LOL. Beeswax, Gloss Gel, Emboss, Diamond Glaze, Glitter.

I've also pulled out the sewing machine and am back into making Purses LOL.

And....

My Other Blog
has been updated and there's a lot of fun going on over there.
There are interviews with Artist/Creative Minds from all walks of Art!

I also had the pleasure of Co-Teaching with Julee Hermann from
Heart Collective (check sidebar)
In the Class I taught some fun embossing techniques for the covers
of the beautiful Books Julee was teaching how to make.

So much to do, so little time. Don't know where I'm heading next but I'm a Sister on a Mission. This year the plan is to teach, guest spot, travel, create new, bigger, better, sew sew, run with the birds LOL sorry, got carried away. Loving this creative energy flow.
What are you up to this year creatively?

I'd love to hear from you :-)

Ok enough with the updates LOL. Gonna work on blogging more often on this site.
Over socialized myself last year, Facebook, Twitter, 4 or 5 ning networks, 2 blogs, YouTube
LOL. Gonna trim that down too LOL.

Now off to create some new....
Look for more soon.
Hugs and Lots of Color!
Off I go....ta ta!
